MATH PLACEMENT

Math Placement is the first step in selecting and enrolling in your first UCSC math course. Most incoming UCSC students complete their Math Placement using the online placement and preparation system ALEKS PPL. Math placement using ALEKS PPL is a multi-stage process of assessment and improvement, not an online exam!

If you’ve successfully completed a transferable college-level pre-calculus or calculus course, or have a sufficiently high Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) Calculus test score, you can complete your Math Placement simply by submitting your grade or score to UCSC. See Non-UCSC Math Course Credit for more information.
